More than 100,000 signatures have been registered so far on a petition to remove Donnie from the Oscars due to his support for the Chinese government.
According to The BBCHong Kong activist Tong Wai Hung started a petition, claiming that the decision “shows contempt for the people of Hong Kong” and that Yen’s presence would “damage the image and reputation of the film industry.”

The petition called Yen’s recent remarks a “violation of the spirit of freedom of expression” and a “denial of Hong Kong people’s rights to fight for freedom”.
